If you have been a caged bird
All of your life
Afraid to leave
To fly away
Even when
The lock has be removed
The cage door is left open
That is not your fault
That was your circumstance
But it can be your fault
If you pass it down
Through your lineage
The fear of freedom
Times have changed
From back then
To now
It is not their cross to bare
Let your children
Be fearless
Because
If you had
Known that type of freedom
The wind beaneath your wings
Soaring through the open skies
Gliding fearlessly
Over mountains
Do you think that you would have stayed
Locked up as a caged bird
Or
Would you have fought for your freedom
Some will never know
Because
They have clipped
Their wings
Even now
Conditioning theirselves
Not want freedom
Teaching theirselves
To panic about the unknown
Refusing to spread their wings
Allowing their terror
To paralyze them
And
To not take a chance
To taste real freedom
Caged bird
Do you hear me
You are free
Fly
Soar
Be happy
Teach your future children
This feeling
That no cage
Can keep
A free spirit
From its freedom
